The ingredients included in Cardiamin are carefully chosen by an expert Cardiac Advisory Board based on current scientific evidence.

Omega-3 – Incorporating Omega-3 essential fatty acids into a regular diet is important to help support heart health, because this ingredient can’t be created by the human body alone. The American Heart Association recognizes the importance of Omega-3 fatty acids for supporting heart health.

Vitamin D – Vitamin D is important for continuing normal function of many body systems including skeletal, cardiovascular, muscle, skin, endocrine, and immune. Accumulating evidence points to an important role of Vitamin D in supporting heart health.

Thiamin – Thiamin is important for energy metabolism, breaking down dietary sugars, neuronal communication and a healthy immune system. The use of diuretics or water pills in the treatment of heart failure can result in a lower level of thiamin in the body.

Zinc – Zinc supports a healthy immune system, growth and wound healing. Zinc deficiency may be seen in patients with heart disease and heart failure.

Selenium – In the body selenium acts as an antioxidant that binds free radicals to protect cells against oxidative stress. Selenium deficiency may be seen in patients with heart disease and heart failure.

The following ingredients are limited in formulation. The Cardiamin Advisory Board, consisting of leading heart specialists, reviews the most current clinical evidence and recommends limited amounts of certain nutrients to support heart health.

Vitamin E – Vitamin E is an antioxidant that protects against cellular oxidative stress and free radical damage. Fat soluble vitamins, such as vitamin E, may accumulate in the body and may need to be taken in limited amounts. High doses of Vitamin E may increase the risk of heart failure. Trace amounts of vitamin E are included in Cardiamin to stabilize the Omega-3 and help reduce undesirable “fish burps”.

Vitamin C – Vitamin C is necessary for the growth and repair of tissues in the body and supports a healthy immune system. The right dose of vitamin C is important, as high doses can be associated with harm to the heart.

B-Complex Vitamins – Vitamin B6, Folate and Vitamin B12, Niacin, and Riboflavin – Deficiencies in these B-vitamins are common in patients with heart failure, but taken in high doses have not proven more effective and may be associated with harm.
